Supplier Feature: Polytec

We take great care in selecting the best suppliers to help us build your home, right down to the finest details. It’s important to us that the materials in our homes reflect the high standards to which they’re built. This month, we wanted to tell you a little more about our relationship with Polytec, who supply a range of laminate for our benchtops and cabinetry.

Polytec have over 30 years of experience in the industry, and in that time have grown their range of products to include over 150 different designs. Whether you like the look of timber or stone, matte or gloss finishes, Polytec has got you covered with its range of surfaces suitable for just about any room in your home.

Plus, they’re proudly Australian owned and made, supporting local manufacturing while making sure their products are still affordable for Australian homeowners.

Their commitment to using renewable materials, their recycling program and their eco-efficient practices make them a great fit for Arden and we’re proud to feature their products in our homes.

Here are some design tips to help choose the perfect laminate options for your home:

Style: Modern coastal

  • A whitewashed timber grain brings a lovely natural warmth to your kitchen

  • Pair with white cabinetry to make the kitchen feel larger

  • A profiled thermolaminate mimics V-groove panelling, adding some subtle detail to the space and drawing the eye upwards

  • Opt for matte finishes over gloss for your benchtops and splashbacks to complete the look

Style: Moody monochromatic

  • A monochromatic palette is the perfect base for a modern kitchen. Stick to blacks, whites and greys

  • Create continuity through repeating surfaces throughout the space. Here, we’ve carried the floor tile up the front of the island, and used it for the splashback surface as well

  • A woodgrain finish for the cabinetry helps to balance the space and add some character – tie it in to your kitchen table surface or extend your island with a servery in the same finish for a cohesive look and feel

Style: Warm modern

  • Mid-grey tones are a great alternative to white as a pairing with natural timber. It’s a little more modern, and softens the look

  • If you’re using timber flooring, this can sometimes clash with timber cabinetry. Keeping timber for your upper cupboards and using a grey tone for your base cabinetry can actually help tie the space together without overdoing the timber elements.

  • A popular trend is to carry across your kitchen design style to the laundry, especially if they’re adjoining in your home. In this home, we’ve used a grey tile rather than wooden flooring, so the timber cabinetry is carried all the way through.
